Mission & Purpose
Rachel Dorado, Founder of Wilber's Rescue Foundation, began her journey into rescue 14 years ago while pregnant, newly in recovery, and searching for purpose. She started volunteering at the Siloam Springs Animal Shelter, where a call about two abandoned newborn puppies changed everything. Only one survived. His name was Wilber.
Through that tiny survivor, Rachel found direction, stability, and a lifelong passion for helping animals and the people who love them. Over the years, Rachel and Wilber fostered and rescued more than 50 animals together, laying the foundation for the mission that exists today.
Wilber’s Rescue Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on preventing animal homelessness through surrender prevention, spay and neuter advocacy, and community support, while continuing active rescue for cats and dogs across Northwest Arkansas. What began with one fragile life grew into a purpose-driven organization built on compassion, prevention, and second chance
